A Dunloe Avenue car thief is on the run, and Cincinnati police are hoping someone in the neighborhood can help them connect the dots.
Investigators say a 2016 Nissan Maxima with Ohio plate JCA8999 was reported stolen last Wednesday from the 3800 block of Dunloe Avenue. Officers are asking anyone who spotted the car, caught it on camera, or noticed anything off in the area to call Detective Gibson at 513-979-4468 or Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.
According to the Cincinnati Police Department, District 2 detectives are handling the case, which they say stems from an April 8 auto theft in the 3800 block of Dunloe Avenue. The department’s post lays out the car’s make, model, and license plate number and urges anyone with leads to reach out directly to Det. Gibson or use the anonymous Crime Stoppers line.
How to report tips
If your doorbell cam, security system, or dash cam picked up a 2016 Maxima with plate JCA8999, or you remember suspicious activity around the time of the theft, police want to hear from you. Call Det. Gibson at 513-979-4468, or remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040, as listed on the City of Cincinnati site.
Where this fits in citywide trends
This case lands in the middle of a shifting picture for car crime locally and across the country. Spectrum News 1 reports that the city’s crime dashboard logged about 2,053 auto thefts in 2025, which is roughly 600 fewer than in 2024.
Nationally, the National Insurance Crime Bureau found vehicle thefts continued to decline through the first half of 2025. At the same time, local coverage has zeroed in on concerns about teen involvement in some thefts, as noted by WLWT.
For now, police are focused on tracking down this particular Maxima and whoever drove it off Dunloe Avenue. They say even a single clear frame from a camera, a partial plate sighting, or a small detail about suspicious behavior could be enough to move the case forward.
