A Troup County grand jury has handed up an indictment against a woman already sitting in jail in connection with a 2021 LaGrange killing. Investigators say 52-year-old Alan Dale Huguley was found shot inside a vehicle on Briley Road on April 18, 2021.
According to an April 7, 2026 report from WSB-TV, the grand jury returned the indictment this week against Teresa Ann Williams. The station reports that the move comes after months of work by local authorities who had been quietly re-examining the case.
Local coverage from WTVM states that deputies were called to Briley Road around 1:15 p.m. for a report of an unresponsive man. When they arrived, investigators found Huguley inside a vehicle that had been struck multiple times, and they determined he had been hit several times by gunfire.
In a written statement, the Troup County Sheriff’s Office said the arrest and indictment grew out of the agency’s continuing push to review older unsolved cases, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. With the investigation still active, officials have not shared additional details about Williams’ alleged involvement.
What the indictment means
A grand jury indictment means jurors found there was probable cause to formally charge a suspect, which allows prosecutors to move ahead with criminal proceedings. It does not mean the defendant is guilty, and Williams, like any defendant, remains presumed innocent while the case works its way through the courts.
Timeline
Huguley was found on April 18, 2021, on Briley Road in Troup County. Williams was later arrested on Oct. 14, 2025, and charged with murder, according to the LaGrange Daily News.
Next steps and how to help
With the indictment in place, prosecutors are expected to file formal charges in court and set an arraignment date in Troup County as the case progresses. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Troup County Sheriff’s Office at 706-883-1616, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
Investigators say the probe remains active, and authorities are still declining to release the evidence or other specifics that led to the indictment, WTVM reports. Officials have indicated that additional details may surface later through court filings and formal statements.
