Two people were found dead Tuesday in a north Peoria neighborhood, prompting a major police response that stretched into the evening near 83rd Avenue and Jomax Road. Officers locked down the area with a perimeter while detectives processed the scene and canvassed nearby homes, and neighbors reported a heavy law-enforcement presence as units cycled in and out.
According to 12News, officers found two adults dead after responding to a call in the area and are treating the case as a possible homicide. A man was taken into custody in connection with the incident, the outlet reported, but authorities have not released the victims' names or said how they died.
Deadly discovery follows earlier violence on 83rd
The stretch around 83rd Avenue has already seen violent calls this year, including a January robbery-and-shooting that brought out a large police response. That earlier incident was covered in a Hoodline piece about a robbery victim shot in the chest, and regional alerts collected by FOX 10 Phoenix have flagged domestic-violence and other calls at Jomax and 83rd. The cluster of incidents has left some neighbors on edge when they see officers roll out the tape.
Investigation stays active, police seek tips
The investigation remains active and it was not immediately clear whether charges had been filed in the case, 12News reported. For crimes that are not in progress, the Peoria Police Department lists its non-emergency line as 623-773-8311, according to the department's public post on Nextdoor, for anyone with information that could help detectives.
