A routine evening traffic stop in Vallejo quickly turned into a full-blown bust, with the city’s Problem-Oriented Policing (POP) team seizing a stolen car, a loaded unregistered handgun and usable amounts of methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl, according to Vallejo police.

Officers say the stop went down around 7:35 PM on April 8 at Amador Street and North Camino Alto. All three people in the vehicle were arrested at the scene and taken to Solano County Jail.

From Tinted Plate Cover To Felony Bust

Police say the POP team initially pulled the car over after spotting an illegally tinted cover blocking the rear license plate. What started as a traffic violation turned into much more once officers searched the vehicle.

According to a post by the Vallejo Police Department, officers found a loaded, unregistered firearm along with a usable amount of suspected narcotics, including methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl. The drugs were booked into evidence, the car was confirmed as stolen and it was towed from the scene.

Three Detained, Booked Into Solano County Jail

All three occupants in the vehicle were arrested and transported to Solano County Jail. Once they are booked, details such as charges and bail amounts are typically available through Solano County’s Custody Division, which maintains public booking logs and an inmate search that families, attorneys and reporters use to track cases.

Outstanding Warrants And Supervision Status

Records checks added another layer to the case. Police say they uncovered several outstanding warrants, including a failure-to-appear warrant with $20,000 bail, a false-identification warrant with $35,000 bail and a producing-false-evidence warrant with $75,000 bail.

According to the Vallejo Police Department, one of the vehicle’s occupants was on post-release community supervision and subject to a search clause, while another passenger is a convicted felon who is prohibited from having firearms. The arrests tied to the stop include possession of a stolen vehicle, firearm-related offenses, narcotics violations and the outstanding warrants.

Part Of A Bigger Vallejo Traffic Stop Pattern

Traffic stops in Vallejo and across the North Bay have repeatedly turned up guns and narcotics in recent years, and local coverage has highlighted a string of similar busts. One earlier case that drew attention involved a 2025 stop that turned up a stolen, loaded firearm and narcotics.

Case Heads Into Solano County System

Investigators catalogued the seized gun and drugs as evidence, and the stolen vehicle was towed from the scene. Prosecutors will now review the case as it moves through the Solano County system. Police say the vehicle’s owner was contacted, and anyone with information related to the stop can reach out to Vallejo Police through the department’s public channels.
