A French Quarter bar with a flair for the spooky is now dealing with some real-life crime drama. New Orleans police say a man slipped out of Vampire Apothecary on Saint Peter Street with about $3,000 after hiding inside the business until long after closing time, then quietly walking off into the night.
Investigators report the man remained inside the themed restaurant and bar on April 9, then left the building and headed toward Royal Street before continuing on to Orleans Street. Security images released by authorities appear to show the suspect tucked away in a second-floor, employees-only area before he made his exit. Detectives are now hoping someone recognizes him and comes forward.
According to WGNO, the New Orleans Police Department said the break-in happened at roughly 12:45 a.m., and surveillance stills were featured as part of the station’s “Wheel of Justice” segment. The outlet reports that police estimate about $3,000 was taken and note that no arrests have been announced.

Police ask for tips
Police say still images of the suspect show him leaving the shop and walking along Royal Street and then onto Orleans Street, as reported by WGNO. Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes the man in the images to contact the NOPD Eighth District at (504) 658-6080, according to the City of New Orleans.
