A fast-moving blaze ripped through multiple homes on Chicago’s West Side on Monday, sending thick black smoke over West Garfield Park and drawing a major emergency response. Aerial footage showed at least three houses and several garages burning, with the back of one home partially collapsing as crews worked to knock down the flames.
What Crews Saw At Fulton And Cicero
Chopper 7’s live aerials captured the collapse and heavy fire around the 4700 block of West Fulton Avenue near Cicero. As reported by ABC7 Chicago, the Chicago Fire Department said there were no injuries. At least three houses and multiple detached garages were visibly burning as dozens of firefighters and several engine companies surrounded the scene and attacked the blaze from multiple angles.
Neighborhood Context
The West Side has been dealing with a string of serious fires this month, including a deadly apartment blaze on April 9 that killed one person, as reported by WGN‑TV. Those incidents have left residents on edge and have underscored the fire risks linked to aging housing stock in parts of West Garfield Park.
What’s Next
Fire investigators are expected to comb through the scene to determine where the blaze started and how extensive the damage is. As ABC7 Chicago noted, the station described the situation as “a developing story.” Residents are being urged to monitor official Chicago Fire Department updates and local media for details on any road closures, displacement information, or safety advisories.
