White Settlement police shared today photos of officers detaining two men they say were linked to a string of vehicle burglaries at nearby apartment complexes, turning what started as suspicious late-night activity into a pair of arrests.
The department says the incidents unfolded on March 1 at the Westlake Garden and Townhouse West apartments. One suspect was taken into custody at the scene, while a second was arrested days later in Fort Worth. Residents who reported the activity also handed over security-camera footage, which officers say helped them identify the two men.
According to the White Settlement Police Department, Officers Christopher Wiseman, Corporal Carlos Valladares and Officer Brian Leal first encountered the two men in the Townhouse West parking lot. When Officer Wiseman activated his red-and-blue emergency lights, one man stayed put and was detained, while the other ran, police said. That second suspect was later found in a gated backyard and taken into custody. The department identified the men as Aidan Chapoy and Rashaun Lewis and said multiple vehicle owners reported burglaries and expressed a desire to press charges.
Booking Records Show Charges For Lewis
Public booking records show that Rashaun Marico Lewis was booked in Tarrant County on March 20 and faces two counts of burglary and one count of evading arrest, listed as with a previous conviction, according to TarrantTX Mugshots. The entry lists burglary of vehicles among the offenses. Those records state that Lewis's arrest followed investigators' review of resident video from the apartment complexes.
Police Say Footage Helped Identify Suspects
In its Facebook post, the department said a caller shared security-camera video from the 8500 block of Robbins Drive at the Westlake Garden Apartments that appeared to show people pulling on vehicle door handles. Detective Geovanny Ramirez reviewed footage from both complexes, and investigators said they obtained arrest warrants after identifying what they described as an intent to burglarize. Police credited the shared video and resident reports with helping them build the case and asked anyone with additional information to come forward.
