Authorities say a quiet night in rural Crockett County turned terrifying when a drive-by shooting riddled a home with bullets while children were inside. The gunfire erupted around 11 p.m. on May 5 at a house on Arlan Reasons Road near Alamo. Multiple rounds tore into the residence and struck a vehicle on the property, but no one inside was hurt, according to deputies.

Investigators say 19-year-old Kylan Glynn of Dyersburg and 20-year-old Alen Ellis of Gadsden were later taken into custody and are now facing attempted murder and related weapons and endangerment charges.

Per WREG, the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office said Glynn and Ellis are charged with attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, and four counts of reckless endangerment for firing into an occupied home. Deputies said they recovered two firearms and used a description of the suspect vehicle to track down the pair.

The sheriff’s office told reporters the house was occupied by two adults and two children at the time of the shooting, and that two juveniles were also present. Investigators are still working to determine whether those juveniles had any role in what happened.

Scene and Investigation

When deputies arrived at the Arlan Reasons Road address, they found several bullet holes inside the home and evidence that another round had slammed into a vehicle parked outside. Glynn and Ellis were taken into custody and booked into the Crockett County Jail, where they remained pending arraignment and a bond hearing, according to Recently Booked.

The case is still very much active, and the sheriff’s office has asked anyone who might have seen something that night or has information about the shooting to come forward.

Legal Consequences

Under Tennessee law, attempted first-degree murder is treated as a dangerous felony and can bring lengthy prison terms, with additional penalties tied to the weapons and reckless endangerment counts, according to Tennessee courts and legal summaries. Appellate decisions and state statutes show that prosecutors often file firearm enhancements alongside attempted murder charges when guns are allegedly used in the crime.

As in every criminal case, both defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in court.

What’s Next

The Crockett County Sheriff’s Office says detectives are still running down leads and interviewing potential witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to call the department at (731) 696-2104, as reported by WREG.

Prosecutors will finalize the formal charges at arraignment, and court dates will be set in Crockett County as the case moves through the system.
