British AI data center builder Nscale is zeroing in on Bellevue for its first U.S. engineering office, locking in roughly 24,000 square feet set up to accommodate about 100 engineers and support staff. The Eastside hub, slated to open early next year, plants the company in the middle of a neighborhood already crowded with cloud and AI heavyweights.
Puget Sound Business Journal first reported the plans, noting that the Bellevue space will serve as Nscale’s inaugural U.S. engineering office and is designed for around 100 employees. The outlet frames the move as part of a broader buildout of U.S. engineering and operations teams to back Nscale’s data center projects.
Nscale's Global Expansion
Nscale has been in expansion mode after a run of funding rounds and partnership announcements, including a record Series C and major infrastructure deals overseas. Bloomberg recently highlighted the company’s growth in Portugal and other supply agreements linked to large cloud partners, showing that the Bellevue office is just one piece of a much bigger global push.
Bellevue's Pull For AI Talent
Bellevue and the broader Eastside keep pulling in fresh office commitments from tech and AI firms, a trend that helps explain why Nscale chose the city for its engineering hub. Coverage of big local moves like Uber's big Bellevue grab has pointed to sizable new leases and renewals that hint at revived demand for downtown office floors.
Hiring And Office Build
Job listings for Nscale show active recruiting in the Greater Seattle area, with roles explicitly tied to Bellevue or the wider region. Several postings describe hybrid work setups and reference an “office currently under construction,” and Indeed listings detail engineering and operations positions that would ultimately staff the new hub.
Nscale has not yet named a specific street address for its Bellevue office. As the buildout advances, municipal permit filings, lease records and company updates are expected to fill in the remaining blanks ahead of the projected opening.
