
A routine drive along one of Memphis’ busiest routes turned deadly Thursday when a two-vehicle crash on Airways Boulevard near the Interstate 240 interchange by Memphis International Airport left one woman dead and another injured, according to Memphis police. Emergency crews transported both women to area hospitals, and investigators stayed on scene while lanes were cleared. Authorities have not yet released the victims’ names.
Officers with the Memphis Police Department responded shortly after the collision, according to FOX13 Memphis. The outlet reported that both women were taken to local hospitals. One was seriously injured and later died from her injuries, while the other was expected to be okay. MPD told the station the investigation into what led up to the crash is ongoing.
Airways and I-240: A Busy Airport Connector
The collision happened at the I-240 and Airways interchange, a high-traffic gateway that provides direct access to Memphis International Airport and carries heavy commuter and freight traffic every day.
