A refund fight at an Atlanta music studio turned ugly when a group of customers allegedly attacked an employee and robbed him after complaining about malfunctioning equipment, according to police. What started as a dispute over a session on Marietta Street NW ended with the worker punched and stripped of his cellphone and wallet, investigators say.
What police say
Investigators say five men had booked time at the studio when they became angry that some of the gear was not working. The employee reportedly tried to smooth things over and called a manager to process a refund. That is when one suspect allegedly punched the worker in the face, and several others jumped in, according to police.
After the assault, the group took the employee's phone and wallet and walked out, investigators say. Detectives have released surveillance images and are asking anyone who recognizes the men to come forward. Tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000, according to WSB-TV.
How to help
Anyone with information can submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers Atlanta by calling 404-577-TIPS (8477), texting CSGA to 738477, or using the Crime Stoppers website. Local coverage explains those tip methods and how rewards and anonymity work, per The Atlanta Journal‑Constitution.
Investigation status
Police say no arrests have been made and detectives are actively reviewing the surveillance footage as the case remains open. Investigators are urging anyone with video or other information tied to the incident to contact them to help identify the suspects. The initial account of the incident, including still images of the men wanted in the case, was reported by WSB-TV.
