Austin rolled into Saturday under mostly clear skies, waking up to about 51°F and some leftover humidity from Friday's heavy rain. The short-term story is a good one if you have outdoor plans, with a dry and pleasant weekend on tap, light north to northeast breezes, and afternoon highs landing in the low to mid 70s.
Rain Recap and River Watch
Friday's heavier rain bands have shifted off to the east, but the water has not completely drained away yet. River gauges are still running high in spots. According to the National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio office, "a few river forecast points will remain in or crest into action stage during the next day or so," which means low-lying crossings and streets near creeks can still see ponding. Weekend Outlook
Sun will build back in through Saturday with a high near 75°F, then the warmup continues Sunday with afternoon readings near 80°F. Nights stay comfortable, with lows in the low to mid 50s Saturday night and near 60°F Sunday night, and winds remaining light so patio hangs and park time should be easy to pull off.
Warm, Sticky Week Ahead
By Monday, southerly flow starts to take over and bumps highs into the 80s, with mid-80s expected Monday and upper 80s to around 90°F by Wednesday. Humidity will climb too, with dew points pushing into the 60s and near 70s by Tuesday, and south winds that could gust up to about 25 mph. A few isolated storms may pop up by midweek, but coverage looks limited at this point.
What To Know
Use the dry weekend while you have it, it is a solid window for patios and parks, but secure loose outdoor items before Monday's breezier and warmer pattern settles in. Skip driving through any standing water in low spots, and keep an eye on local alerts if you live near creeks or low water crossings where levels are still running high.
