
Gunfire cut through a house party in Avondale on Monday night, leaving one man wounded and another in police custody near Avondale Boulevard and Van Buren Street, according to officers at the scene. The victim was shot in the leg and taken to a nearby hospital, where his injury was described as non-life-threatening.
Officers called to the party for a shooting found the wounded man at the scene, according to 12News. A second man was detained while detectives work to sort out what sparked the gunfire.

The late-night chaos adds to a growing list of party-related shootings around the West Valley in recent weeks. Earlier this month, Avondale police responded to a pool party where a 15-year-old was shot in the leg, as reported by AZFamily.

Despite Monday’s scare, Avondale police told 12News there is no ongoing threat to the broader community. Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and video as the investigation continues. No names have been released and no charges had been filed as of the latest update.
