Silverton Donut Shop is quietly back in business this spring, with the classic Montgomery Road bakery slipping into regular service again after a change in ownership. The familiar old-school case is once more lined with raised and cake donuts that many neighbors remember from years past.
YY and Rena Davis, who run Marx Bagels, officially took over the Silverton spot in April and have since reopened the counter, according to the Cincinnati Business Courier. The outlet reports the Davises stepped in after years of supporting the previous owner and moved quickly to get donuts flowing again.
From Bagels To Donuts
YY and Rena Davis have roots in Cincinnati's bagel scene. They purchased Marx Hot Bagels from founder John Marx in 2019 and still operate the Blue Ash storefront, Marx Bagels notes. That background in running a small, kosher-friendly breakfast operation appears to be the playbook they are bringing to the Silverton counter.
A Neighborhood Staple
Silverton Donut Shop, at 7414 Montgomery Road, has been a neighborhood fixture for decades, according to MapQuest. The shop has previously held kosher certification for production at that facility, per Cincinnati Kosher, and local review pages continue to praise its straightforward, old-school donuts. Neighbors who count on the shop's early hours will be watching to see whether the new ownership keeps those schedules steady.
What This Means
The acquisition follows Marx Bagels' recent growth beyond Blue Ash. The brand opened a Columbus location in April 2025, showing the owners are comfortable expanding while keeping traditional recipes intact, according to 614NOW. The reopening of Silverton Donut Shop was also reported by the Cincinnati Business Courier, and for now the counter appears to be back in regular operation under the Davises as locals head in for morning donuts.
