A Tuesday street encounter in Bath Beach turned violent when a 17-year-old boy was slashed in the chest and robbed of $200, authorities said. Emergency responders took the teen to Maimonides Medical Center with what police described as a non-life-threatening chest wound, and he is expected to recover.
According to News12 Brooklyn, the attacker walked up to the teen in front of 9 Bay 28 St., cut him with a knife, grabbed cash from his pocket and then took off. Detectives have opened an investigation and are talking with neighbors, looking for both witnesses and any available surveillance video that might help track the suspect.
Neighborhood pattern
The stabbing lands in the middle of a spring streak of street robberies and assaults across southern Brooklyn, including recent hits in Bath Beach that have residents on edge, as recent incidents in Bath Beach reported. Police alerts say officers are keeping a close eye on quick getaways involving scooters and e-bikes and urging neighbors to review any door-cam footage for suspicious activity.
