Dash and body camera video shows a driver leading officers on a roughly eight-mile chase across Milwaukee County on Friday night, snaking through the tight streets of Bayshore Town Center before police finally spun the car out with a PIT maneuver. The pursuit started on Milwaukee’s south side at North 22nd and Scott streets and wrapped up near Port Washington Road and Hampton Avenue, according to authorities. A 37-year-old woman was arrested and taken to a hospital for medical clearance, and police say no one else was hurt.
Video shows multiple attempts to stop vehicle
Footage released by Glendale police shows officers trying three different tactics to stop the fleeing car: first deploying stop sticks that the driver ran over, then positioning a squad to block the car inside the Bayshore complex, which the suspect hit and steered around, and finally using a PIT maneuver on Port Washington Road that sent the vehicle into a screeching spin. In the video, officers can be heard yelling “Crash, crash, crash” as the suspect slams into the squad, then shouting “Pit, pit, pit, pit, pit, good pit!” when the maneuver works. Those details and the video were first reported by WISN.
How the chase unfolded
Milwaukee police say it all began when an officer tried to pull the vehicle over for a registration violation at North 22nd and Scott. The driver stopped at first, then took off, triggering a cross-county pursuit that wound straight through Bayshore. After the vehicle exited the mall area and headed southbound on Port Washington Road, officers used a PIT maneuver and “tapped the back corner” of the car to force it to a stop. Witness video shows officers ordering the driver out and pulling her from the vehicle as multiple squads closed in, according to WISN.
Arrest and legal next steps
The 37-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and taken to a hospital for medical clearance before being booked, Milwaukee police said. Authorities say they plan to refer charges to the district attorney’s office, and investigators are going through the video frame by frame to bolster the case. Police reported that no other people were injured during the pursuit.
Context: Bayshore's recent troubles and safety concerns
Bayshore Town Center has already been under the microscope this year after a string of disorder incidents that have kept local officers busy. In March, a teen “takeover” at the mall turned chaotic, with bodycam video capturing fights and a heavy police response, as reported by CBS58. In 2024, the mall rolled out a weekend parental-supervision requirement for youths, a move covered in detail in reporting on the weekend parental-supervision policy. The latest high-speed pursuit underscores the risks officers face when a chase barrels into a dense shopping district.
Milwaukee and Glendale police are continuing their investigation, and prosecutors will decide whether to file charges once the case is submitted to the district attorney. As of the initial reports, neither department had released the suspect’s name.
