A Beacon Hill family got just about the worst wake-up call imaginable early Saturday when they found a naked man inside their Myrtle Street home, according to police. Officers later arrested the unclothed intruder in an upstairs bathroom, where they say he was sitting on the toilet. The family’s children stayed upstairs throughout the encounter and never came face to face with the man.

One resident told officers he headed downstairs around 8 a.m. and found a nude man sitting on the living room couch, calmly smoking what looked like a crack pipe, Boston.com reported. The homeowner immediately retreated upstairs, secured his children, and called 911. Police said the kids were understandably shaken up but never had direct contact with the intruder.

Officers Find Suspect On Toilet, Book Him At Nashua Street Jail

When officers arrived, they heard noises coming from a second-floor bathroom and opened the door to find the man naked and sitting on the toilet, the Boston Police Department said on Facebook. Police detained him at the scene and transported him to the Nashua Street Jail for booking. The Suffolk County Sheriff's Department lists the jail at 200 Nashua Street in Boston.

Police Expect Lewdness And Vandalism Charges

The man is expected to face charges of vandalism, open and gross lewdness, and putting lawful residents in fear by breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony, according to Boston.com. Authorities have not released his name or any information about a possible motive.
