Stoughton is about to get a new spot for a fast burrito fix. Santa Fe Burrito Grill is preparing to open its tenth Greater Boston location at 577 Washington St in the former Sartorio Recipe space, bringing its family-run, build-your-own burritos, bowls, tacos and more to the busy corridor.
Coming to Washington Street
A “coming soon” sign is already posted in the front window of the Washington Street storefront that once housed Sartorio Recipe, and the address is listed as 577 Washington St, Stoughton, MA 02072, as reported by Boston Restaurant Talk. The outlet shared a photo of the space and identified Santa Fe Burrito Grill as the incoming tenant.
Owner stresses family-run approach
Hector Angel, who also operates Mexica Burrito Grill in Tewksbury and Billerica, told What Now Boston that “We are not a chain,” emphasizing that the concept is family-owned and hands-on. He said the kitchens avoid freezers and frozen foods and that the group aims “to be fast, fresh, and affordable,” according to the report.
Menu and service
The brand leans on a build-your-own setup that lets customers choose proteins, rice, beans, salsas and toppings for burritos, bowls, tacos, nachos, quesadillas and salads, per the restaurant’s website. The menu highlights proteins such as steak and carnitas and sides like chips with queso and churros, giving Stoughton a quick-service Mexican option for takeout and counter dining, according to Santa Fe Burrito Grill.
Where it fits locally
Once it opens, the Stoughton restaurant will join Santa Fe locations in Malden, Franklin, Weymouth, Rockland, Acton, East Boston, Melrose, Revere and North Reading, expanding the group’s suburban footprint, Boston Restaurant Talk reports. The growing cluster of outposts points to a focus on commuter towns and inner suburbs around Boston.
Timeline and format
What Now Boston notes that the Stoughton restaurant is slated to be the brand’s tenth location and reports that it is not yet clear whether the space will feature a full bar or stick to over-the-counter beer and margaritas. An official opening timeline has not been announced.
Where to watch for updates
The company directs customers to its website for menus, hours and announcements, and its online ordering pages list current locations and hours for each outpost, making them the most likely place to spot an official opening date for Stoughton. For now, local diners can expect the same quick-serve, customizable burritos and bowls that have fueled Santa Fe Burrito Grill’s regional growth.
