Busboys and Poets, the D.C. restaurant, bookstore and cultural hub, has quietly slipped into Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, giving travelers a local favorite without ever having to leave the concourse. The new, compact outpost sits on the post-security side of Concourse D, near the D gates.
The airport's official directory lists Busboys and Poets in Concourse D, post-security near the D gates, with store hours of 5:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m., according to FlyReagan. The entry popped up on the airport's Shop & Dine pages in mid-May and identifies the spot as a post-security concession tucked at the end of the D concourse.
Local blog PoPville flagged the opening on May 15, sharing photos and a brief note about the new outpost. A day earlier, Travelers Aid's DCA "Current Notices" page had already logged that "Busboys & Poets is OPEN in Concourse D," marking the debut at the D gates.
DCA Brings In More Homegrown Flavor As Concourse D Gets A Refresh
The Busboys arrival is part of a broader push to bring recognizable D.C. dining names into Reagan National as the airport refreshes its concessions mix. Concession operator Onsite Retailers lists Busboys among its concepts at DCA, and industry roundups of new airport amenities have been touting several local additions ahead of the busy summer travel season. An overview appears at MarketScreener.
Founded in 2005 by Andy Shallal, Busboys and Poets built its reputation as a hybrid restaurant, bookstore and community venue. The group's website describes the concept as "a space for art, culture and politics to intentionally collide," a vision that longform profiles have connected to the chain's civic-minded mission, according to Busboys & Poets and coverage in The Washington Post. For D.C. travelers, the new DCA outpost simply means a familiar neighborhood name has joined the post-security lineup, and one more way to eat local before hustling to the gate.
