Worcester vice detectives hit a Chandler Street apartment and an Acura sedan on Tuesday, stopping a 32-year-old man as he pulled up and finding what police describe as a sizable stash of suspected drugs. Officers reported seizing roughly 80 grams of suspected cocaine, a large bag of psychedelic mushrooms, digital scales and other drug-processing materials, and say they recovered additional crack cocaine from the suspect’s vehicle. One man now faces a trafficking in cocaine charge, two others were taken into custody on outstanding warrants, and a female occupant will be summonsed on drug counts.
Vice detectives serve warrants on apartment and car
According to a press release from the Worcester Police Department, vice detectives obtained search warrants for an apartment at “Chandler Street apartment 2” and an Acura sedan following an investigation into alleged crack cocaine distribution. Detectives say they watched 32-year-old Zachary Bergeron pull up in front of the target address, stopped him, and at the same time made entry into the apartment. Inside, officers reported locating Susan Bergeron, Kyle Bergeron and Kayla McAuley during the search, per Worcester Police Department.
Evidence seized in the search
The department’s Facebook post adds that the subsequent search turned up approximately 80 grams of cocaine, “a large bag of Psychedelic Mushrooms,” digital scales and drug-processing materials. Detectives also reported recovering additional crack cocaine from Bergeron’s Acura. The Facebook notice lists the individuals located during the operation and the related charges and arrests tied to the investigation, as posted on Worcester Police Department (Facebook).
Charges and arrests
Worcester police say Zachary Bergeron was charged with trafficking in cocaine in the 36 to 99 gram range. Kyle Bergeron and Kayla McAuley were arrested on outstanding warrants, and police report that Susan Bergeron will be summonsed and charged with various drug offenses. Those allegations now move to prosecutors as the case enters the court system, according to Worcester Police Department (Facebook).
What the cocaine trafficking charge covers
Trafficking in cocaine in Massachusetts is prosecuted under M.G.L. c.94C §32E, which sets out weight-based tiers with escalating penalties and parole eligibility rules. The 36 to 99 gram band described by police places the alleged offense in a mid-level trafficking category that can carry significant prison time, depending on any prior record and how prosecutors choose to proceed. The statute itself outlines the specific weight brackets and sentencing ranges, per M.G.L. c.94C §32E.
Recent pattern of vice enforcement on Chandler Street
Police describe this operation as the latest in a series of recent vice actions in Worcester. In mid-May, officers reported another Chandler Street stop that led to arrests after detectives said they observed a drug transaction on the corridor. Local reporting and police notices indicate vice detectives have been active along Chandler Street as part of a broader push to disrupt crack and cocaine distribution. That earlier Chandler Street arrest was reported by News Link Live.
Prosecutors will now review the case files and the matter will proceed through the Worcester courts. Police did not list any specific court dates in their written announcement.
