The Dallas Museum of Art is rolling out Sideline, a temporary outdoor refreshment pop-up at its Eagle Family Plaza timed with the World Cup. Instead of the museum’s usual kiosk, visitors will find a season of ice-cold treats, music, lawn games and shaded spots to hang out. The menu leans sweet and playful, with sundaes piled with toppings, "dirty" sodas, and soft-serve margaritas. The goal is simple: give fans and downtown visitors a cool place to gather before or after matches.
According to The Dallas Morning News, Sideline will run from today through July 19 and will occupy the museum plaza at 1717 N. Harwood St. After opening weekend, the pop-up is scheduled to be open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The timing is designed to catch the expected uptick in downtown foot traffic tied to World Cup programming.
Where Fans Will Gather
The museum plaza sits a short walk from Klyde Warren Park, a busy downtown green space that often hosts free public programming. The tournament's official fan festival for Dallas, the FIFA Fan Festival at Fair Park, is expected to draw large crowds and will feature giant screens, live music, and food. That kind of energy helps explain why temporary activations like Sideline are popping up nearby.
Menu And Museum Tie-Ins
The Dallas Morning News reports the menu will include sundaes loaded with toppings, "dirty" sodas and soft-serve margaritas, and that Sideline will offer music, lawn games and areas for socializing. The museum has framed the activation as a way to connect the festive atmosphere of soccer with its galleries and has posted details on its site at the Dallas Museum of Art.
Sideline is set up as a walk-up activation rather than a ticketed event, so fans and locals should be able to drop by while exploring the Arts District. Expect lines on busy match nights and plan transit accordingly when tournament programming is in full swing.
