A man was seriously injured Tuesday evening in a drive-by shooting along Morehead Avenue in Durham, according to police. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and found the victim in the 1600 block of Morehead Avenue, where he was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Investigators said the shots were fired from a passing vehicle as police worked to secure the scene.
Durham police, speaking to CBS17, said a passenger in a passing car opened fire in what they described as a drive-by. CBS17 crews on scene reported shell casings scattered across the intersection of Chapel Hill Road and Morehead Avenue, and the department said no one was in custody as detectives continued to process the area. The victim's name has not been released pending family notification.
