Emory University announced Thursday that Christopher L. Augostini, the school’s executive vice president and enterprise chief operating officer, has been selected as the university’s 22nd president, elevating the longtime administrator who has overseen Emory’s finances and integrated operations across the academic campus and its health system.
According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Emory’s Board of Trustees voted to appoint Augostini following recent leadership deliberations, with the outlet noting that he will become the 22nd person to hold the position.
Augostini’s record at Emory
Augostini has been a mainstay in Emory’s senior leadership ranks. As detailed by Emory University, he was elevated to enterprise chief operating officer in 2025 and has since overseen integrated financial planning, investment management, campus services and coordination with Emory Healthcare. Before his Emory tenure, he held senior finance and operations roles at Georgetown University and earlier served in budget and intergovernmental positions for New York City and New York State.
