A would-be bank heist at a Kitsap Credit Union branch in the Bremerton area barely got off the ground Tuesday evening, after some fast coordination between Kitsap County deputies and Bremerton police. Just after 5 p.m., a man handed a bank employee a note demanding cash, deputies quickly circulated a description of a suspected getaway vehicle, and officers pulled off what authorities describe as a high-risk traffic stop. Two people were arrested, and investigators recovered stolen cash along with other evidence.
Video released by the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office shows deputies and Bremerton officers surrounding an SUV that matched the description, then taking the occupants into custody after the stop. According to KIRO 7, investigators recovered cash and other evidence tied to the attempted heist.
How Officers Tracked The Getaway Vehicle
In the Sheriff’s Office video, a former Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office cadet, now working as an animal control officer, spots an SUV that matches the vehicle description broadcast by deputies. The video shows him radioing the location, which leads deputies straight to the suspected getaway car. The clip then captures Bremerton police joining deputies for what officials call a “high-risk traffic stop,” with officers securing the scene before taking two men into custody.
Arrests And What Officials Have Released
Per KIRO 7, both men were booked into the Kitsap County Jail, and deputies recovered the cash reported taken from the credit union branch. Authorities have not released the suspects’ names or any formal charges as of the station’s report, and the Sheriff’s Office video remains the main public look at how the stop unfolded.
