A tense, hours-long standoff at a Garland motel ended late last night when a man wanted on a felony bank-robbery warrant finally surrendered to police.
Garland SWAT officers took the suspect into custody shortly before midnight yesterday at a motel along Interstate 30 near Broadway Boulevard, after spending several hours positioned outside his room. The Dallas Police fugitive team had tracked the man to the property before Garland officers moved in, according to FOX 4.
The Garland Police Department told FOX 4 the suspect had an outstanding felony warrant for bank robbery and surrendered several hours after SWAT arrived. Police added that they are not releasing the man's name, booking photo, or specific details about the alleged bank robbery at this stage of the investigation.
Motel Standoffs Have Turned Deadly Before
Standoffs at motels in Garland have not always ended this quietly. In June 2025, Garland officers shot and killed a man inside a Motel 6 room and later discovered a second body in the same unit, an incident that sparked local scrutiny of how the department handles barricaded suspect situations, as reported by The Dallas Morning News.
