In a post on X, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said commanders and Force detectives were responding to a shooting at Broadway and Washington Avenue; SLMPD added that its public information officer was on scene. "One suspect has been shot. No officers were injured," the department wrote. Local reporting identified the scene near the Stifel Theatre and the Missouri Athletic Club; as reported by KSDK, detectives were collecting evidence at the intersection.

The shooting is the latest high-profile incident around America's Center this month. Earlier in May, a pre-dawn Embassy Suites clash across from the convention complex left a man wounded.
