
Gunfire broke out Thursday evening along a familiar trouble spot in South Sacramento, rattling neighbors on the 5400 block of Stockton Boulevard and sending one person to the hospital.
According to FOX40, Sacramento police officers were called out around 6:45 p.m. to the 5400 block of Stockton Boulevard near the Fruitridge Pocket neighborhood. Officers found a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound, and the person was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Where it happened
The shooting unfolded on a stretch of Stockton Boulevard that has already been under the microscope for safety concerns, particularly around traffic and pedestrian danger. City officials have been working on a killer stretch redesign intended to slow cars and make the corridor safer after a string of serious incidents.
Police investigating
Sacramento police say detectives are actively working the case, but so far they are keeping a tight lid on details. The department has not released any suspect information or possible motive and told FOX40 the investigation remains ongoing as officers chase down leads and look for witnesses.
