A man was fatally shot late Saturday night near the intersection of Torresdale and Longshore avenues in the Tacony section of Northeast Philadelphia, according to police. Officers were called to the corner at about 9:40 p.m. and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a hospital, where he later died. The gunman took off on foot and was last seen running east on Torresdale Avenue, police said.

The killing comes amid a string of recent incidents along Torresdale and Longshore avenues, a busy commercial stretch in Tacony. The Northeast Times reported a May 12 carjacking on the 2100 block of Longshore Avenue that led to arrests earlier this month. In February, a bus-stop robbery on Torresdale Avenue was reported in the neighborhood, and The Philadelphia Inquirer detailed an April 23 armored-truck robbery in Tacony that investigators say netted about $1.8 million.
