
A 38-year-old woman is in critical condition after an apparent assault on Parkway Drive in La Mesa last Thursday, according to police. Officers and paramedics responded to the area just before 8 AM after a report of an injured woman, and she was taken to a hospital, where she remains in critical condition. Detectives have released a photo of a person of interest and are asking the public to help identify him.
According to FOX5 San Diego, investigators believe the woman was experiencing homelessness at the time of the attack and suffered severe injuries. The person of interest is described as a Hispanic man with facial hair, wearing a blue San Diego hooded sweatshirt, blue pants and white shoes. Detectives told FOX5 they are following up on leads, but no arrests have been announced.

La Mesa Police are asking anyone who recognizes the man in the photo or who noticed anything unusual on Parkway Drive around that time to contact investigators. Per the La Mesa Police Department, tips can be reported to the department at (619) 667-1400, and anonymous tips may be submitted through Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-TIPS. Detectives are particularly interested in any cellphone video from the area that could help piece together a timeline.
