What Police Say Happened
According to Atlanta police, officers responded to the 500 block of Lee Street SW around 11:50 p.m. and found a 49-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the shoulder and a 44-year-old man shot in the hand. When officers tried to sort out what led up to the gunfire, the two men gave conflicting stories. Both were alert and breathing when they were taken to the hospital, and the case remains under investigation, as reported by Atlanta News First.
Lee Street's Violent Streak
This stretch of Lee Street SW has seen multiple shootings in recent months, with both street disputes and traffic-related run-ins turning violent. On March 30, two people were wounded near the intersection of Lee Street and Donnelly Avenue after what appeared to be an argument following a minor crash, a reminder that gun violence has repeatedly touched this corridor, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
