A DeKalb County apartment complex off Hambrick Road turned into an overnight crime scene Wednesday, after reports of a stabbing on 3 Oaks Bend drew a major police response. Officers taped off portions of the property and stayed into the early morning hours, working a case that authorities are still keeping close to the vest. So far, police have not shared details about the victim, any suspects, or what may have sparked the attack.
According to FOX 5 Atlanta, officers were called late Wednesday night to the complex on 3 Oaks Bend, where a vehicle from the medical examiner's office was seen on site. The station reported that information at the scene came from a photojournalist, and that the investigation remains very much active.
Incidents Add To Spring Spike In Local Violence
This stabbing comes during a rough season for violent crime in DeKalb County. Coverage of an April 9 Flat Shoals Road stabbing detailed another apartment attack that left one person seriously hurt earlier this spring. In a separate incident, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on a multi-location shooting spree that left multiple victims and triggered a response from several agencies.
Police Ask For Tips And Video
Detectives are leaning on nearby residents for help and say even the smallest lead could matter. Neighbors with doorbell camera footage, cell phone video, or anything unusual they noticed around the time of the stabbing are urged to reach out.
Per the DeKalb County Police Department's tip portal, residents can text the keyword "DKPD" to 847411, use the DKPD mobile app, or submit an anonymous tip online. As always, anyone facing an immediate threat or witnessing an emergency should call 911.
What Happens Next
County detectives continued processing the scene overnight and said more information will be released once they are able to confirm details. FOX 5 Atlanta reports that the case remains open, and officials are again asking anyone who knows something about what happened on 3 Oaks Bend to contact investigators.
