Longtime Cincinnati restaurateur Kevin Armon is bringing a taste of Europe home to his own neighborhood. His new spot, Concorde, a European-inspired bistro, is set to open in Madisonville this summer. The restaurant will slide into a ground-floor space in the Madamore building, right across from the neighborhood branch of the public library, and is designed to work just as well as a casual wine-and-charcuterie hangout as it does a full-service dining room. Armon is pitching Concorde as a neighborhood place where guests can settle in for long evenings and mix and match how they dine.
According to Cincinnati CityBeat, Concorde takes its cues from French, Italian, and Spanish dining traditions. Armon, who has cooked in Paris, New York, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia, said, “I’ve always been drawn to the way people gather in Europe,” and wants a menu that follows that rhythm. CityBeat’s early look at the menu includes coq au vin, roasted Scottish salmon with lemon beurre blanc, oysters Rockefeller, sautéed calamari with Spanish chorizo, and lumache all’amatriciana.
Concorde is expected to debut in early summer and will be open Tuesday through Thursday from 4 to 10 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 4 to 11 p.m., per Cincinnati CityBeat. The team says it will announce opening events and reservation details in the coming weeks.
Madamore location and development context
The new bistro will join the ground-floor retail lineup at Madamore, the Ackermann Group development that brought more than 300 apartments and a broad slate of retail space to Madison Road, as reported by the Cincinnati Business Courier. The project was pitched as a way to help rebuild downtown Madisonville by pairing new residents with fresh storefronts along the corridor.
Why leasing matters for Madisonville
Developers brought in OnSite Retail Group to lease those commercial spaces after acknowledging that apartments alone were not enough to reenergize the business district, the brokerage wrote. OnSite notes that Madamore includes about 14,500 square feet of commercial space and that signing operators like Concorde is part of a strategy to pump foot traffic back onto Madison Road.
Per reporting in the Cincinnati Business Courier, Armon brings more than 35 years of experience in kitchens across the United States and abroad and has called Madisonville home for more than two decades. With that neighborhood perspective in his back pocket, Concorde’s early-summer debut is now on the horizon.
