A 32-year-old Indiana man was shot and killed Thursday in a Benton Park West parking lot, a deadly burst of violence along one of south St. Louis' main thoroughfares.
Police identified the victim as Davonte Biddings of Gary, Indiana. Officers found Biddings in a parking lot in the 3000 block of South Jefferson Avenue, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department have opened an investigation into the killing, and no arrests had been announced as of Thursday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The outlet reports that officers were called to the scene Thursday and that police have publicly identified Biddings as the victim. Authorities have not released additional details about what led up to the shooting.
Where the Shooting Happened
The shooting took place in Benton Park West, a south-side neighborhood that runs along Jefferson Avenue and includes part of the Cherokee Street commercial corridor. The neighborhood is mapped by the city as roughly bounded by Gravois and Cherokee, with Jefferson serving as a main north south artery, according to the City of St. Louis.
