Bar Susanne, a seafood-focused cocktail and raw bar from the team behind Cafe Susanne, is set to open on the Williamsburg waterfront this week, bringing locally sourced shellfish, martini-heavy drinks and a coastal-style dining room to the Domino Park strip.
According to WhatNow, Bar Susanne plans to open on May 15 and will sit right next to Cafe Susanne along the Domino Park waterfront. The outlet reports that the restaurant is a roughly 75-seat space designed by Matthew Maddy with partner Marisa Maddy Ripo.
Executive chef Jackie Carnesi, known for recent work at Kellogg's Diner and Nura, will run the kitchen with a menu centered on seafood from Long Island's North Fork and nearby New York waterways. Eater NY notes that the lineup will include shrimp cocktail, scallop crudo, grilled squid and a fluke Milanesa, along with caviar service and creative desserts.
Inside the space
The room leans into a coastal vibe, with amber lighting, marble details, recycled oak floors and original artwork by female artists setting a warm, seaside tone. WhatNow reports that the design is meant to mirror the Brooklyn waterfront and reflect the feminine energy behind the bar's namesake.
Drinks and service
Beverage director Milos Zica is building a drinks program that puts martinis up front, alongside agave-forward cocktails and low-ABV options tailored to the raw bar menu. Eater NY also reports that Bar Susanne will be open from about 5 to 11 p.m. nightly.
Where it fits
