One person was killed and another critically injured Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash near Jonestown in northwest Travis County, a violent midday wreck that shut down a rural stretch of roadway as first responders fought to save lives.
Austin-Travis County EMS said medics were called out just before noon and arrived to find two patients trapped in the wreckage while fire crews worked to free them. One adult was pronounced dead at the scene, and a second adult was rushed to St. David's Round Rock in critical condition, according to CBS Austin.
Crash Adds To Troubling Record On Jonestown Route
The Jonestown area and nearby FM 1431 have seen multiple serious and fatal collisions in recent years, with local reports detailing repeated ATCEMS responses to head-on crashes and motorcycle wrecks along the winding corridor.
