
A man is in custody after a stabbing in Apache Junction left two people hospitalized, one of them in critical condition, following a late-morning attack in a residential stretch near Lost Dutchman Boulevard and Warner Drive on Thursday, May 28.
Scene and injuries
Officers were called just before noon to Cedar Drive near Lost Dutchman Boulevard and Warner Drive, where they found two people with stab wounds, according to Arizona's Family. Both victims were taken to a hospital, and one remained in critical condition, police said.
Reporters from Arizona's Family at the scene said investigators were placing evidence markers and swabbing blood on the sidewalk as they documented the area.
Police response
Apache Junction police detained a man at the scene and said there was "no threat to the public," according to FOX 10 Phoenix. Officers did not immediately release the suspect's name or confirm any charges as detectives continued to secure and process the neighborhood.
Investigation underway
Detectives are working to determine what led up to the stabbing and have not released additional details, Arizona's Family reports. Officials said no identities have been released while the investigation continues and witnesses are being interviewed.
