By the time officers got there, the group had scattered and medics were rushing the conscious victim to a nearby hospital. Police: Crowd Dispute Explodes Into Gunfire
Atlanta police said the shooting started around 12:30 a.m. along the 1500 block of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard NW after an argument broke out among people gathered in the area, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. When officers pulled up, the crowd had already bolted and investigators found one man suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said the man was alert and conscious as he was taken to the hospital.
Victim Expected To Recover As Detectives Hunt Shooter
Officers were called to 1579 Joseph E. Boone Boulevard NW at roughly 12:30 a.m., and the wounded man was taken to a hospital where he is expected to recover, as reported by Atlanta News First. Investigators told the outlet that the disturbance spun up into gunfire and that the group scattered before officers arrived. No arrests have been announced and detectives say they are working to identify who pulled the trigger.
Boone Boulevard Hit By Violence Again
The stretch of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard has been the backdrop for several shootings in recent years, including a 2024 double shooting that left one person dead and another injured, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. Neighbors and business owners have repeatedly raised safety concerns along parts of the corridor, and police say community tips and surveillance remain critical as detectives work to figure out what unfolded early Thursday.
