What Police Are Asking the Public
The Memphis Police Department is urging anyone who might know something to come forward. Tipsters are asked to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH (2274) or submit information online, per the Memphis Police Department website. Tips can also be sent by texting AWARD to 274637. Callers and tipsters can remain anonymous, and police say that even small details or video clips could help detectives piece the case together.
Lamar Avenue's Recent Troubles
This stretch of Lamar Avenue has seen repeated violence and enforcement actions in recent years, with authorities zeroing in on properties flagged as chronic trouble spots. Hoodline previously reported that MPD closed the Economy Hotel on Lamar after nearly 1,000 calls for service and a court injunction that labeled the site a public nuisance.
Detectives with MPD's death-investigation team are leading the case and are expected to release more information as it becomes available. This story will be updated if authorities share additional details.
