San Antonio police are trying to unravel a disturbing case on the Northeast Side after a woman with facial injuries and no clothing showed up at a friend’s apartment late Monday night and said she has no memory of what happened.
Investigators believe the incident is tied to the Tobin Park trailhead area and are treating it as a possible sexual assault. Neighbors and regulars on the nearby Salado Creek Greenway have been warned to be extra cautious while detectives work through the early stages of the case.
According to WOAI, officers say the woman arrived at the friend’s apartment just before 11 p.m. She told investigators she had walked to a gas station at Loop 410 and Starcrest, then decided to take the Tobin Park trail as a shortcut back home. Police later found her clothes along the trail but did not locate her phone. Detectives are handling the case as a possible sexual assault. No arrests have been announced and investigators have not released any suspect information.
Past incidents at Tobin Park
Tobin Park, which sits along the Salado Creek Greenway near Loop 410, is a popular route for walkers and cyclists. It also has a history that tends to make residents uneasy when fresh police activity pops up. In 2019, during an unrelated investigation, officers discovered human remains near the Tobin Park trailhead, as reported by MySA.
What police are asking
While detectives sort through the woman’s movements and build a clearer timeline, police are urging people to stay alert and avoid using the trails at night, according to WOAI. Investigators have specifically asked anyone who was in the area around Loop 410 and Starcrest on Monday night to come forward with any information that might help.
Officials have not released the woman’s name or other identifying details. The investigation remains active, and San Antonio police have not provided additional comment beyond the initial report. This story will be updated as authorities issue further official information.
