
A late-night house fire in north St. Louis County has turned into a death investigation, after a man pulled from the burning home died shortly after arriving at the hospital and detectives labeled the circumstances “suspicious.”
According to KSDK, officers from the North County Precinct were called around 10 p.m. Wednesday to the 11300 block of Old Halls Ferry Road in north St. Louis County. Fire crews and police found a man in the home’s living room, pulled him from the house and rushed him to a hospital, where he died a short time later.
The St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons and the St. Louis Regional Bomb and Arson Unit were brought in to sort out what happened. Investigators are working to determine where and how the fire started, and police have formally classified the man’s death as suspicious.

Detectives are asking for help from anyone who might have seen or recorded something around the time of the fire. Tipsters can call the department’s non-emergency line at 636-529-8210, as listed on the St. Louis County Police website.
Anonymous tips can also be shared with St. Louis Regional CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477. Police are particularly interested in hearing from residents who may have doorbell camera footage or drivers with dashcam video from Wednesday night in the surrounding area.
Investigation Ongoing
Detectives with the Crimes Against Persons Division and the Regional Bomb and Arson Unit processed the scene and stayed on site into the night, continuing the search for a cause, according to KSDK.
Authorities have not yet released the man’s identity or any suspected cause of the fire. Officials again urged anyone with information to call 636-529-8210 or submit an anonymous tip through CrimeStoppers.
