Another Crash in a Neighborhood Tired of Sirens
Parkway Village has seen multiple pedestrian and hit-and-run incidents in recent months, and neighbors say their safety concerns keep growing. As reported by Action News 5, investigators have repeatedly asked for dashcam and cellphone video after similar crashes in the area.
What Tennessee Law Says About Leaving the Scene
Under Tennessee law, drivers involved in crashes that cause injury must stop, stay at the scene, and provide aid and identifying information. Tennessee Code §55-10-101 spells out those duties and penalties, and failure to stop after an injury is a criminal offense that can bring misdemeanor charges or, in cases involving death, potential felony charges, according to a summary on Justia.
How to Help Investigators Track Down the Driver
Detectives are asking anyone who saw the crash, or who has dashcam, doorbell, or surveillance footage from the area, to contact police with anything that might help identify the SUV or its driver. According to the Memphis Police Department, tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH (2274) or through the department's online tip portal.
