Phat Boy Sushi, the South Florida sushi-and-fusion chain, is rolling into Palm Beach Gardens this summer with its first local outpost at Downtown at the Gardens. The family-run concept says the new spot will serve sushi, noodles and hibachi skillets while pulling double duty as a daytime, family-friendly restaurant and a late-night date destination.
Downtown location targeting mid to late July
Owners John and Nicole Maser are behind the new restaurant, which they say will be the brand’s seventh location and its first ground-up build-out, John Maser told Business Debut. The team is aiming for a mid to late July opening and is planning the space so it can welcome families during the day and a later evening crowd after dark.
Brand teases the opening
The company’s own site and social gallery have been quietly hyping the move, with a “Palm Beach Gardens location coming” post in the brand’s gallery backing up the owners’ timeline. The Phat Boy Sushi site also lists the chain’s other South Florida outposts and shows off the kind of fusion menu the new spot is expected to bring north.
Menu, seating and deals
Menu highlights planned for the Palm Beach Gardens restaurant include brussels sprouts with pork belly, dumplings, chicken hibachi, TNT tuna and crispy fried rice with tuna tartare, the owners told Business Debut. The space is expected to seat roughly 80 guests inside, including the bar, plus about 40 more on a patio. Planned hours are Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to midnight. The Masers said promotions will include Martini Mondays with half-off lychee martinis and an all-day Tuesday happy hour from a designated menu.
Why Downtown at the Gardens
Downtown at the Gardens is a growing dining and retail hub anchored by national stores and a lakeside public space, according to Downtown at the Gardens. That mix of daytime shoppers and evening activity is expected to give the restaurant both family traffic and date-night footfall, city and property listings show.
The opening will extend a family-run brand that has been expanding across South Florida over the past decade and give Palm Beach Gardens another option for sushi and late-night plates. This story will be updated when the Masers announce an exact opening date and any soft-opening details.
