Neighborhood context
The Summerside Drive killing adds to a troubling run of fatal incidents in San José this year. The city has already recorded multiple homicides in 2026, including a pair of downtown slayings in February, according to reporting by the San Francisco Chronicle. Those earlier cases prompted investigators to ask the public for video footage and eyewitness accounts, a strategy they are again leaning on in the wake of the Summerside shooting. Motive and suspect information remain under investigation, and police have not announced any arrests.
