Gang-unit detectives with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office say a weekend search of a Ruskin home turned up cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, several guns and roughly $10,000 in cash, and ended with the arrest of 24-year-old resident Brian Clavel. He now faces a list of felony charges that includes cocaine trafficking along with multiple possession and delivery counts, part of what the agency describes as an intensified push on street-level crews across Hillsborough County.
Seizure Details and Charges
In a social media post, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said gang-unit detectives served a court-approved action in Ruskin and took Clavel into custody after finding cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, multiple firearms and about $10,000 in cash. The post lists charges that include trafficking in cocaine in the 28 to 200 gram range, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, delivery of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful use of a two-way communications device. Those details were outlined by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office on Facebook.
Legal Implications
Under Florida law, trafficking in cocaine involving 28 to 200 grams is a first-degree felony and carries a mandatory minimum three-year prison sentence and a $50,000 fine. Penalties increase sharply for larger quantities or prior convictions, and additional delivery and possession counts can add years to any potential prison term while giving prosecutors more leverage in plea talks. The weight-based mandatory minimums and fines are set out in Florida Statute §893.135.
Local Context
As reported by FOX 13, a five-month probe announced in April 2025, called "Operation No Good Secrets," led to 13 arrests and the seizure of significant quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, firearms and cash. HCSO described several of those suspects as documented Latin Kings members and said that case involved coordination in Brandon, Tampa and Pasco County. The Ruskin arrest falls within that broader enforcement push targeting organized distribution networks.
According to the sheriff's office post, Clavel was taken into custody, and the agency did not list bond or arraignment details. Anyone with information was urged to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the post said. Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office on Facebook
