A tense barricade situation in East San Jose wrapped up yesterday with two people in handcuffs after police say a woman was assaulted inside a home on the 100 block of S. Capitol Avenue. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital, where her injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Officers were called just after 1 PM for a report that an adult female had been attacked by three suspects with an unknown object inside the residence, according to KRON4. Police surrounded the home and brought in crisis negotiators, and after officers worked for a peaceful resolution, five people eventually walked out of the house. Two of them were taken into custody without incident, the outlet reported.
Midday standoff briefly shuts down the block
Neighbors watched as a large police presence took over the street, with units blocking off the area while officers secured the perimeter and negotiators stayed in contact with the occupants. These kinds of barricade calls typically draw a multi-unit response, and officers kept bystanders at a distance while detectives remained on scene to collect evidence.
Investigation still in early stages
The San Jose Police Department has not yet released the names of the two people arrested or clarified what charges they may face, KRON4 reported. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the San Jose Police Department's non-emergency line or its media relations unit, according to the San Jose Police Department.
