San Jose is starting today on the cool side, with mostly clear skies, a light southerly breeze, and temperatures hovering near 48°F. It will be a mild day overall, with a high around 67°F and some patchy morning fog in low-lying spots before sunshine returns inland. Expect the cooler feel to hang on through Tuesday, with a more noticeable warm-up lining up later in the week.
Monday Night: Small Chance Of Light Rain
A weak Pacific low is on track to bring a shot at light rain tonight into early Tuesday morning, with the best odds in the North Bay and higher onshore hills. Showers could pop up after about 11 PM and linger overnight. Most South Bay neighborhoods are expected to pick up only a few hundredths to around a tenth of an inch, though locally higher totals remain possible, according to NWS Bay Area. If those showers materialize, plan for wet roads during the early Tuesday commute and some slick trouble spots where drainage tends to lag.
Foggy Mornings, Clearing Afternoons
Patchy fog and low clouds are likely before about 7–9 AM along the coast and in creekside neighborhoods, with inland valleys clearing by midmorning and warming into the upper 60s. The marine layer will keep coastal and bay-side areas a few degrees cooler than locations farther inland. It is a repeat of the same marine-layer setup we broke down in our recent fog fight.
Midweek Warm-Up
By Wednesday and Thursday, highs climb into the 70s, then push into the mid-80s in inland spots on Saturday and near 90°F by Sunday. Drier, sunnier conditions arrive as high pressure builds late this week, so outdoor plans should line up better from Wednesday on. If you are eyeing weekend activities, aim for morning or evening hours, when inland heat will be strongest and the sun will feel less intense.
What To Do Today And Tonight
Grab a light jacket for the morning commute and stash a small umbrella in the car for tonight’s chance of drizzle. Take it easy in fog-prone corridors, flip on your headlights when visibility drops, and leave extra time if roads look slick after midnight.
