An 18-year-old wanted in a Northwest Side shooting that killed a teenage girl is now in custody after what police describe as a coordinated law-enforcement sweep. San Antonio police identified the suspect as Jaden Gutierrez, who had been sought in connection with a mid March attack, and said specialized units worked together to track him down and arrest him.
SAPD said in a Facebook update that its Covert unit, with help from the U.S. Marshals, located and arrested Gutierrez on Monday night. The department posted photos under the caption "murderer now behind bars🚓" but did not include booking details or list any formal charges in that post.
How the March shooting unfolded
According to News4 San Antonio, the shooting happened just after 12:30 a.m. on March 15 in the 5900 block of White Cloud Street. Officers found 17-year-old Josielynn Cordova with gunshot wounds and she was later pronounced dead. A 22-year-old man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries as detectives opened a homicide investigation.
