
Gunfire tore through a North Portland block late Wednesday night, leaving a man and a woman wounded on a sidewalk near North Lombard Street and North Wall Avenue. The shooting happened just before 11 p.m., and both victims were rushed to a hospital. Police have not yet released their conditions.
What police say
Officers with the Portland Police Bureau were called to the area shortly before 11 p.m. on May 13 and found the man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds on the sidewalk, according to KPTV. Whoever opened fire was gone by the time officers arrived. No arrests have been made, and detectives are still working to piece together what happened.

Portland's gun-violence context
The shooting comes as citywide numbers have been moving in the opposite direction. Portland Ceasefire's 2025 annual report, using Portland Police Bureau data, reports that injury and fatal shooting incidents dropped by roughly 33% in 2025 compared with 2024. The report credits focused intervention and support for people at the highest risk of violence, while acknowledging that individual incidents continue to surface in neighborhoods across the city.
