Police: Shooting happened just before 7 p.m.
Authorities say the gunfire broke out just before 7 p.m. on the 2300 block of South 64th Street, where responding officers found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. As reported by CBS Philadelphia, officers took the man to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
Recent violence in the neighborhood
The shooting is the latest in a string of violent incidents rattling parts of Southwest Philadelphia this year and stoking fresh worries about safety on neighborhood streets. Both incidents led to community calls for tips and surveillance footage as residents pushed for answers.
