Suite Habana Café, the Wynwood coffee shop beloved for its Cuban-rooted specialty coffee, quietly shut its Wynwood storefront at the end of April and is set to reboot in June inside the Crest Hotel & Suites on Miami Beach. The new location is expected to bring more seating, a bigger food lineup and a weekend brunch in partnership with Cuban chef Osmel Gonzalez.
According to the Miami New Times, co-owners Nayelis Delisle and Manny Lopez closed the cozy Wynwood space after losing a longtime lease. The outlet reports that Suite Habana will relaunch in June inside the boutique Crest Hotel Suites, just off 17th Street and Collins Avenue, with added seats and an expanded menu. The move comes after eight years of service in Wynwood since the couple first opened the café in 2018.
Delisle and Lopez launched Suite Habana in 2018 with a straightforward mission, pairing paladar-style hospitality with specialty coffee. The café's house blend and paladar-inspired interior have drawn national nods from outlets like Bon Appétit and Condé Nast Traveler, giving the intimate Wynwood spot an outsized reputation.
Online Shop Keeps The Lights On
While the physical café makes its way across the causeway, the business has been leaning on direct-to-customer sales. Suite Habana's house blend is available in 12-ounce bags, in both whole-bean and ground formats, through its online store at Suite Habana Cafe.
What Will Change At The New Spot
The owners say the food program will roughly double in size, expanding beyond the current six-item pastry rotation. Weekend brunch is also slated to debut, a collaboration with Cuban chef Osmel Gonzalez of EntreNos and Emelina. "Moving from Wynwood was very delicate for me," Delisle told the Miami New Times, adding that customers were a key support during the transition. The paper also notes that the couple's 20-year-old son helps develop and bake many of the café's goods.
The Crest Hotel & Suites sits at 1670 James Ave in South Beach, one block from Collins Avenue and the ocean, and is expected to host the café starting in June, according to the hotel's listing. The address points to a busier, more tourist-facing crowd than the café's former Wynwood counter.
Fans who miss the Wynwood ventanita can keep the ritual alive by ordering the house roast online, and the owners say they are eager to pour for longtime regulars and new Beach neighbors alike once doors open. For updates and to order beans, head to Suite Habana Cafe.
